Recently, Kashyap has made a startling revelation that he will soon be leaving the Hindi film industry. Anurag has decided to move to the South and has also shared his reasons for making such a strong decision.
Anurag Kashyap slams Hindi film industry
In an interview, Anurag Kashyap stated that in the Hindi film industry, it has become difficult for him to go out and experiment as it comes at a cost. The Gangs of Wasseypur director said how his producers make him think about profits and margins. “Right from the beginning, before the film starts, it becomes about how to sell it. So, the joy of filmmaking is sucked out. That’s why I want to move out of Mumbai next year,” said Kashyap.
Further in this entertainment news, the Black Friday director said that he is going to the South and plans to go where there is stimulation; otherwise, he will die as an old man. “I am so disappointed and disgusted by my own industry. I am disgusted by the mindset,” said Anurag. Citing the example of Manjummel Boys, the filmmaker said that Bollywood would never make a movie like this but instead remake it if it’s successful.

In the same interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Anurag Kashyap bashed the talent agencies that focus more on profit. He said how the first-generation actors are entitled and painful to deal with. According to the filmmaker, they don’t want to act but want to be stars instead. On the work front, Anurag’s last release as a director was Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat. As an actor, he impressed everyone with his performance in the 2024 Tamil film Maharaja.
