HarbourView Equity Partners invests in Mucho Mas Media

EXCLUSIVE: HarbourView Equity Partners, the investment company that bought into Charles D. King’s Macro last year, is putting more money into the film and television business.

The company, which was founded by Sherrese Clarke Soares, has invested in LatinX-focused company Mucho Mas Media.

This comes ahead of the release of Mucho Mas’ film The Long Game, which earned the SXSW Narrative Spotlight Audience Award in 2023.

Clarke Soares has been added as an exec producer of the film, which was directed by Julio Quintana and opens in theaters nationwide on April 12.

Financial details were not disclosed but HarbourView joins Texas-based real estate investment and venture capital firm Barshop Venture and the family office of NBA Hall of Famer David Robinson and Henry Cisneros as investors.

Mucho Mas Media includes two companies: Inclusion Management, a talent management business representing diverse film and TV creators and CHiSPA Comics, producing Latino-focused comic books for global comic book fans. Its slate includes Prime Video’s The Black Demon starring Josh Lucas, Netflix’s Blue Miracle starring Dennis Quaid, Rosario starring Emeraude Toubia and David Dastmalchian, Jenni Rivera biopic Jenni and Eric Nazarian’s Die Like A Man.

It’s next film is The Long Game, which is screening at the White House tomorrow.

The Long Game, inspired by the book Mustang Miracle written by Humberto G. Garcia, follows the true story of five young Mexican American caddies in 1955 who created their own golf course in the middle of the South Texas brush country. Despite outdated and inferior equipment and no professional instruction to begin with, they would go on to compete against wealthy, all-white teams and win the 1957 Texas State High School Golf Championship.

It stars Jay Hernandez, Dennis Quaid, Cheech Marin, Julian Works, Paulina Chavez, Jaina Lee Ortiz, Brett Cullen and Oscar Nuñez. Quintana penned the script alongside Jennifer C. Stetson and Paco Farias.

Exec producers include Hernandez, Phillip Braun, Christian Sosa, Simon Wise, Colleen Barshop and Vincent Cordero and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez as well as Clarke Soares. Producers include Javier Chapa, Ben Howard, Dennis Quaid, Marla Quintana and Laura Quaid.

“We are thrilled to partner with Javier, Vincent, Simon and the Mucho Mas team and look forward to working closely with their immensely talented executives to support their ambitions,” said HarbourView CEO Sherrese Clarke Soares. “We believe Mucho Mas possesses the skillful ability to drive ROI by centering audiences and delivering compelling stories, including the upcoming film The Long Game — a true American story that highlights the perseverance of faith and the human spirit. With rich, universal stories for all audiences, we couldn’t think of a better partner to invest in as we grow our portfolio.”

“We want to emphasize the importance of Sherrese and her team at HarbourView” added Mucho Mas’ Co-CEO & Chief Content Officer Javier Chapa and Co-CEO & Chief Business Officer Vincent Cordero. “We’re grateful to all our investors for their commitment to invest and empower Latino founders and startups, for the expansion and betterment of the global media industry.”

HarbourView Equity Partners was represented in the deal by Michael Miller and Alissa Miller at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP. Mucho Mas Media was represented by Darrel Barros and Kimberly Mann at Shulman Rogers LLP, as well as Teresa Walsh and Tarek Sadi at Access Media Advisory.
