Ramayana: Lord Ram and goddess Sita‘s epic tale has always been cherished as one of the most prominent part of Hindu culture and history. Considered one of the most pious aspects of the Hindu religion, Ramayana was once again widely discussed and became the talk of the town when, on January 22, 2024, Lord Ram’s statue was unveiled in Ayodhya. Interestingly Bollywood director Nitesh Tiwari is also making a film on Ramayana, where it is speculated that Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi will portray the roles of Lord Rama and goddess Sita respectively. While there is no update on when the movie will hit the theatres, the good news is that renowned South and Hindi film director Priyadarshan has completed a monumental endeavor to document the rich history of the Ram temple in Ayodhya through a captivating docu-series.

Priyadarshan to unveil the epic Ayodhya Ram Temple History in a 5 episode docu-drama series
Yes, you heard it right. Very soon, you will be seeing a five-episode documentary drama series that highlights the history of 500 years and how the return of Lord Ram to Ayodhya was filled with lots of sacrifices and prayers of the ardent devotees. The docu-drama will air on the channel Doordarshan, which will feature many notable interviews, with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s interview being the prominent one.
Shedding light on the most important project of his career, Priyadarshan said that while one may think that because this is a docu-drama, it may be easier than making a film, the reality is that the shooting experience for the docu-drama was more daunting than the filmmaking. The director revealed that in order to get everything right, the team had to navigate sensitive subjects with care while honestly representing the historical narrative. Priyadarshan said that it was indeed the greatest challenge

Furthermore, the director emphasized that another bigger challenges of the docu-drama was also the casting of the film. He emphasized that finding suitable actors to portray figures like Jawaharlal Nehru and Collector KK Nair was particularly challenging.
