Lawmakers passed legislation backed by Paris Hilton that is designed to stem the abuse of minors at rehabs and residential facilities.

The Stop Institutional Child Abuse Act cleared the House today by a vote of 373-33 and will now head to President Joe Biden’s desk.

Hilton had lobbied Capitol Hill multiple times to urge lawmakers to support the legislation. The bill creates an interagency Federal Work Group on Youth Residential Programs to implement best practices on the care, safety and treatment of youth in the programs.

Hilton posted on Instagram, “Today is a day I will never forget. After years of sharing my story and advocating on Capitol Hill, the Stop Institutional Child Abuse Act has officially passed the U.S Congress.

“This moment is proof that our voices matter, that speaking out can spark change, and that no child should ever endure the horrors of abuse in silence. I did this for the younger version of myself and the youth who were senselessly taken from us by the Troubled Teen Industry.”

The bill passed the Senate by unanimous consent earlier this month.
