EXCLUSIVE: There’s a lot of movement from agents that used to work at A3 Artists Agency.
A pair of agents – Marienor Madrilejo and Emma Clarke – who joined Gersh from A3 after the former acquired the latter in a deal in January are now leaving the Phil Gersh-founded agency.
Madrilejo was VP, Digital and Clarke was an agent in its digital and alternative programming division.
Madrilejo was previously a senior agent in A3’s alternative programming, digital media, licensing and branding division, having spent over eight years at the company. She is understood to be leaving the representation business.
Clarke spent four years at A3 including nearly three of them as an agent in the alternative division. Clarke is believed to be moving into the management side of the business at a boutique agency specializing in digital representation.
Also joining Clarke in the management side is coordinator Carly Veal, who spent two years at A3 before joining Gersh.
This comes after A3 sold its digital and alternative departments to Gersh, which saw a 25 agents and around 45 additional staffers moving to Gersh. This included Jade Sherman, who is leading its digital business, and Alec Shankman overseeing alternative alongside senior agent and partner Debra Goldfarb.
Other senior agents who went over included Keith Bielory, Mark Turner, Melissa DeMarco, Sam Schmidt, Jared Thompson and Matt Sorger.
However, a month later, on February 9, Deadline broke the news that A3 would be closing its doors for good with COO Todd Quinn telling staff that “despite our best efforts, we find ourselves unable to continue operating in a sustainable manner”.
