Laapataa Ladies is OUT of Oscars 2025 race, THIS Hindi-language film is now shortlisted



A lot of cinema lovers are looking forward to the Academy Awards, aka Oscars 2025. A few months ago, it was announced that Hindi film Laapataa Ladies was selected to be India’s official entry for the International Feature Film category. Directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan, it stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, and Sparsh Srivastava in the lead roles. Well, there’s sad news for everyone who has been waiting to see the movie at the upcoming Oscars. Lost Ladies out of Oscars 2025 race

On December 17, the Academy announced the shortlist for various categories. Sadly, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies, aka Lost Ladies, has not made it to the short list of Best International Feature Film Category. However, the United Kingdom’s Hindi film Santosh has made it to the list. The other movies who are shortlisted include I’m Still Here, Universal Language, Waves, The Girl with the Needle, Emilia Perez, The Seed of the Sacred Fig, Touch, Kneecap, Vermiglio, Armand, From Ground Zero Dahomey, and How to Make Millions before Grandma Dies. More about Santosh movie

Santosh is a Hindi-language movie directed by Sandya Suri. The crime drama was sent to the Oscars 2025 by the United Kingdom. It stars Shahana Goswami, Sunita Rajwar, Sanjay Bishnoi, and Kushal Dubey. The film was premiered at the Cannes Film Festival this year. As soon as the Academy announced the shortlist with the Hindi film being a part of it, Shahana took to her Instagram page to express her joy. She wrote, “So happy for the team especially our writer director Sandhya Suri for this little glory of recognition for our film Santosh! How incredible to be shortlisted from amongst 85 films. Thank you to everyone who loved it, supported it and voted for it.”
