Luis Pineiro Joins The Cartel As Manager-Producer

EXCLUSIVE: Luis Pineiro, formerly a lit agent at A3 Artists Agency, is transitioning to management, having joined management and finance firm The Cartel as a manager and producer, co-founder Jeff Holland announced on Thursday.

Repping writers and directors for TV while at A3, Pineiro has over the course of his career worked extensively with showrunners and producers to help staff televisions shows as well as helping represent several pilot and episodic directors. Prior to A3, he worked at Buchwald, Zero Gravity Management, and Atlas Entertainment, having started his career as an assistant in the Media Rights department at ICM Partners.

Clients joining Pineiro at The Cartel include Jacob Pinion (Fear the Walking Dead), Simon Oré Molina (Harmonquest, Anomalisa), Michael Cruz (Fatal Attraction) and Luke Groneman (Fatal Attraction), to name a few.  He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Producing from the AFI Conservatory, where he co-wrote and produced his thesis film, The Flesh of My Lovers, which was licensed by CryptTV. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Radio/Television/Film from Northwestern University.

“The Cartel is very excited to have an agent of Luis’ caliber and skill set join the team,” co-founder Holland told Deadline. “We’ve long been fans of Luis’ and are thrilled to work with he and his amazing clients as the Cartel continues to grow into one of the top management companies in town.”

Added Pineiro, “Stan [Spry] and Jeff, along with the rest of the team, have built an extraordinary company in The Cartel. I have long admired their impressive list of showrunners, producers, writers, and directors coupled with their robust pipeline of film & tv productions. I look forward to expanding upon their success and collaborating with my clients alongside some of the best creatives in town.”

Representing a robust list of showrunners, creators, writers, directors, artists, production companies and animators, The Cartel has also produced and financed over 100 projects, including the series Creepshow for AMC’s Shudder, the adult animated series Breaking Bear for Tubi, Twelve Forever for Netflix, and the limited series Day of the Dead for Syfy.

Pineiro is just the latest A3 alum to figure out his next destination following his former agency’s dissolution, on which we were first to report. Recently, former TV lit agent Jillian Holch joined the team at Verve, with former A3 Partner and President Brian Cho launching Arise Artists Agency and bringing former A3 agents agents Ashley Partington, Abbie Waters and Nic Frascino with him.
