Malayalam cinema faces Rs 700 crore loss in 2024. For quite some time, there has been debate going on about the age gap between an actor and actress. In every film industry, we have seen the male actors being quite older and paired opposite young actresses. Sometimes, these actresses are 15 or more years younger than the actors. In an interview, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal was asked about the same.
Mohanlal on age-gap between actors and actresses
Mohanlal was asked about how male stars are romancing younger actresses on screen. On social media, people often call out such kinds of casting. The Drishyam actor told India Today that it’s a process, a cycle. The superstar pointed out that the trend has not started now and is not only in the Malayalam film industry. The age gap casting happens even in the Tamil and Telugu film industry.
“But if you are healthy and you can act at the age of 100 (there is no issue), You are the deciding factor, and how you choose your character. If you feel uncomfortable, this is not a good role for me; you have to avoid it. But if people are ready to accept it, then why not? It is a performance. It’s nothing to do with age. It’s all about the role,” said the Malayalam actor.
Further in this entertainment news, Mohanlal was asked about making his directorial debut with the film Barroz this year. The South superstar was asked about his future plans, to which he said he just let things happen in his life. “We do a lot of plays, shows, and other activities. We are doing so many films. I don’t plan things; I let it happen.” The actor believes in things happening, and one has to be there as it flows. espite blockbusters
