Netflix Drops Trailer, Reveals Premiere Date For Dark Comedy

Netflix is offering the first sneak peak of Bodkin, its dark comedic thriller about a motley crew of podcasters (Will Forte, Siobhán Cullen, Robyn Cara) who set out to investigate the mysterious disappearance of three strangers in a quaint, coastal Irish town.

Dropping May 9, Bodkin is from Barack and Michelle Obama‘s Higher Ground productions — the company’s first scripted drama series at Netflix as part of its overall deal. David Wilmot (Station Eleven) and Chris Walley (The Last Voyage of the Demeter) also star in the seven-episode thriller that was shot in Ireland.

Forte plays Gilbert, a charming, open, and enthusiastic podcaster from the U.S. who’s on the hunt for his next big story. Originally from Chicago, Gilbert’s family emigrated from Cork, and is hoping to discover his Irish roots. Cullen portrays Dove, a hard-nosed investigative journalist from Dublin who has a fine-tuned bullshit detector and a healthy disdain for authority and hypocrisy.

Cara plays Emmy, a bright, funny and eager to please researcher who has been helping Gilbert organize the podcast.

Bodkin was created by Jez Scharf (Mister Biscuits, The UnDream). Scharf and Alex Metcalf (The Loudest Voice, Sharp Objects) serve as co-showrunners and executive produce with the Obama, along with Tonia Davis for Netflix-based Higher Ground, David Flynn and Paul Lee for wiip and Nne Ebong for Netflix.
