Description San Diego State University invites applications for a tenured faculty position at the associate to full professor level, also serving as Director of SDSU's MRI Center. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in neuroscience, psychology, MR/medical physics, biomedical imaging, or related fields and should have a strong research record, technical skills relevant to MRI applications, and previous research leadership experience transferable to directing an MRI facility. The successful candidate would be expected to provide strategic vision in maintaining, directing, and growing a state-of-the-art imaging program for basic and translational research, and facilitate services provided to the SDSU imaging community. This academic position also includes maintaining research excellence and developing an independent, externally-funded program of research, teaching graduate and/or undergraduate courses, and mentoring students. Preference will be given to candidates with an outstanding research record and expertise in human brain imaging, experience with directing an imaging center, strong managerial skills, ability to promote collaborative research links, a commitment to the teacher-scholar model, and research/teaching interests integrating issues of culture and human diversity.
The SDSU Imaging Center includes a Siemens Prisma 3 Tesla MRI scanner for structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging, a mock scanner, and is fully equipped for research-dedicated purposes. The Center is located on SDSU's main campus within walking distance from the department of psychology. The Psychology Department has a highly selective Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology with the University of California-San Diego that includes a Neuropsychology track. There is also a research-oriented Master's Program in Psychology, which includes training in behavioral and cognitive neuroscience and neuroimaging coursework. The BA Program in Psychology includes an emphasis in neuroscience. The minimum salary for this position is based on the current CSU salary schedule for Associate Professors and Professors and may be revised based on contract collective bargaining. The anticipated salary range is from $120,000-$135,000 for Associate and $133,000-$148,000. Salary placement will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience, and salaries higher than the published maximums may be offered in limited circumstances.
