Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our team at Love, Makoto. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in preparing sushi and Japanese cuisine, a commitment to using the finest ingredients, and the ability to deliver consistently high-quality dishes. As a Sushi Chef, you will play a crucial role in crafting our menu, ensuring top-tier presentation, and maintaining the authenticity of Japanese culinary traditions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and artistry.
• Create innovative and seasonal sushi menu items while respecting traditional techniques.
• Ensure the freshness, quality, and proper handling of all seafood and other ingredients.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure seamless operations and exceptional service.
• Train and mentor junior staff members, sharing knowledge and techniques.
• Monitor inventory, manage waste, and assist in ordering supplies.
• Engage with guests when appropriate to enhance their dining experience.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Sushi Chef in a high-volume, upscale restaurant.
• Extensive knowledge of Japanese cuisine, techniques, and ingredients.
• Exceptional knife skills and attention to detail in food preparation and presentation.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain a positive attitude.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Passion for culinary creativity and dedication to customer satisfaction.
• Culinary school training is a plus but not required.
