Paramount Names Australia/New Zealand Chief — Global Briefs

Paramount Names Australia/New Zealand Chief

Paramount Global has named Beverley McGarvey President of Network 10, Head of Streaming and Regional Lead for Australia and New Zealand, effective immediately. This comes after the exit of the UK-based Maria Kyriacou, Paramount’s former President of Broadcast and Studios, who counted Australia among her responsibilities. It also follows a local restructure that saw the departure of Executive VP, Chief Operating and Commercial Officer and Regional Lead Jarrod Villani. McGarvey, previously EVP, Chief Content Officer and Head of Paramount+ ANZ, will now report to Pam Kaufman, President & CEO of International Markets, Global Consumer Products and Experiences. Kaufman said Australia was one of Paramount’s “most important, priority markets,” with McGarvey’s promotion reflecting that fact. McGarvey will have commercial and creative leadership of Paramount’s business in Australia, with oversight of Network 10 and its portfolio of brands, including streamer 10 Play. She will also retain her current duties, overseeing all original content out of Australia, such as crime drama Last King of the Cross, and leading Paramount+ in Australia, reporting to Marco Nobili, EVP and International General Manager of Paramount+, in that capacity.

Denmark’s Mint Sets Up In UK

Denmark’s Mint Copenhagen is launching a UK office to build out its studios and digital agency business. Mint is best known in TV circles for DR miniseries Darkness Between Us (Mørket Mellem Os), and has now hired children’s TV industry veteran Rob Doherty as SVP of Business Development to focus on the company’s slate of animated and live action IP. Doherty has previously worked for the likes of Disney, ITV, Endemol, Initial and Cake, and on shows such as Netflix’s Angry Birds: Summer Madness and Spa Team 4 and Disney’s Space Chickens in Space. “Mint draws on the strong Nordic tradition of storytelling to bring fresh ideas to its content,” said Doherty. I’m looking forward to developing our slate of creative, original IP working with new partners both in the UK and across Europe.” Mint said it is currently on its “first global IP for one of the world’s leading broadcasters.” Additionally, Shane Keane has been named Mint’s new Head of Growth, EMEA, responsible for growing Mint’s digital agency business
