Bade Miyan Chote Miyan: Ali Abbas Zafar reveals Prithviraj Sukumaran initially refused the film
When asked about casting Prithviraj Sukumaran for the Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff starrer, director Ali Abbas Zafar explained, ”The idea was to cast a superstar as the villain, someone who has a tremendous hold on their craft. It was decided that the character needed to be played by a superstar from another industry, breaking the clutter and appealing to audiences across all languages. I am a big fan of Prithvi’s work, and I was fortunate enough that he loved the role. The character has many layers and nuances.”
Ali then revealed how Prithviraj initially refused the film and also shared how he eventually convinced the south actor to star in the film. Ali said, ”When I offered him the film, although he liked his character, he initially declined due to scheduling conflicts. After a few days, I called him again and offered to adjust Akshay and Tiger’s dates to accommodate his. Upon hearing this, Prithvi expressed that it seemed I really wanted him to do the role, and I confirmed that I did. Fortunately, everything worked out well.”
As Ali Abbas Zafar shares how he embarked on a persuasive journey to change Prithviraj Sukumaran’s mind, it certainly sheds light on the director’s determination to get Sukumaran as a part of this film. The film also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Manushi Chhillar, and Alaya F in key roles.
