EXCLUSIVE: The Real Bros of Simi Valley, a parody of The Real Housewives and Jersey Shore, is going feature-length.
Roku has greenlit a new feature The Real Bros of Simi Valley: High School Reunion, a spinoff of the series that previously aired on Facebook Watch.
The Real Bros of Simi Valley, created by Jimmy Tatro and Christian Pierce, started as a web series on Tatro’s YouTube page before moving to Facebook after Tatro broke out as one of the stars of Netflix’s American Vandal. It aired two seasons on the short-lived video service, running for a total of three seasons, ending in 2020.
The gang are now back with Tatro, Nick Colletti, Tanner Petulla, Cody Ko reprising their roles.
With the 10-year high school reunion around the corner, Xander (Tatro) and his squad embark on a journey to become the dopest versions of themselves in time to flex on all of their old classmates.
Christian Pierce also returns as Aldis.
The Real Bros of Simi Valley: High School Reunion is produced by Studio71, with Michael Schreiber serving as producer and Adam Boorstin as executive producer. The film is written by Tatro and Pierce and directed by Tatro. Morgan Pichinson oversees the project on behalf of Roku Originals.
It is Roku’s latest original movie after the launch of Weird: The Al Yankovic Story and First Time Female Director from Chelsea Peretti. It will launch this summer.
“We came up with the idea for this movie back when we were writing season three of the show, so we’re super excited to finally bring it to life,” said Tatro and Pierce. “One simply cannot make a show about a group of friends who peaked in high school without highlighting an event as monumental as their 10-year reunion.”
“The bros are back, and as ridiculously hilarious as ever, in this new Roku Original comedy feature from Jimmy, Christian, and team,” added Brian Tannenbaum, Head of Originals, Roku Media. “With this latest project, Roku Originals continues our commitment to championing breakout comedy features, from top talent, for our millions of streamers to enjoy for free”
“With millions of loyal fans, Real Bros has cracked the code on how to connect with viewers through its innovative storytelling and groundbreaking social media campaign,” said Studio71’s Michael Schreiber. “First as a series and now as a film, with Roku’s support, Jimmy and Christian are raising the bar yet again. We can’t wait to re-engage with our diehard audience.”
