Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee gave a blockbuster hit in the form of Jawan. The movie was a total entertainer and fans loved every bit of it. It turned out to be the highest grossing Hindi film of that year. Jawan had Shah Rukh Khan in dual role. He played the aged Vikram Rathore and his son Azaad. The story was about Azaad fighting against the evil and his father Vikram Rathore coming to his rescue. Of course, fans loved sweet Azaad but it was Vikram Rathore’s swag that kept everyone swooning. Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee had a bet over the same.
Vikram Rathore or Azaad – Which character turned out to be the mass character in Jawan?
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Atlee revealed about his bet with Shah Rukh Khan. The filmmaker believed that Vikram Rathore’s character in Jawan will click with the masses while Shah Rukh Khan was of an opinion that it would be Azaad as girls like to see him in a hero kind of role. The filmmaker was quoted saying, “I said, ‘Sir (SRK), you wait and watch; Vikram Rathore is going to be the mass character.’ He just looked at me and said, ‘No, sir. Girls like me, Azad will be the mass.’ I said, ‘Okay sir, bet sir bet.’ But exactly after seeing the film, he said, ‘Boss, you were right.’ He just told me, ‘You are right. Vikram Rathore is the mass; everybody loved it.’”
The filmmaker who is currently busy with the promotions of Baby John shared that the mantra being his successful films is that he makes them massy. He calls mass as ‘mother feeling’.
Baby John stars Varun Dhawan in the lead along with Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi. It is co-produced by Atlee. The expectations are high from Baby John as Atlee has already set major examples of massy entertainers with films like Jawan, Theri, Bigil and more. The filmmaker has confirmed that he is going to be working with Salman Khan next.
