Actor, producer Sohum Shah owned the year 2024. He re-released his 2018 horror thriller Tumbbad in theaters and the film went on to become one of the highest grossers upon re-release. They are now looking forward to present to the audience yet another gripping extension through Tumbbad 2. “I have taken the rights of their films Veerana, Purana Haveli and Purana Mandir. So I will be making these films. I have always felt that we can do a lot more with this genre. As a business it makes sense. Jo bhi films ban rahi hain aajkal woh horror comedies ban rahi hain. As a writer you can do whatever you want to do with pure horror movies. People don’t want to see the predictable storylines and with horror you have so much you can do. There is a huge audience out there who want to watch pure horror so business wise it is time,” reveals Sohum.

It’s been a trend, sort of a hit formula, in the industry to create various universes. We have a cop, a spy and a horror comedy universe. With his Tumbbad 2 and the remakes of the cult horror films, is Sohum aiming to create a horror universe too? “Well, we will see how that pans out but Tumbbad in itself is a whole universe. And that was the case when we made it back in 2017. There’s scope for a prequel, sequel and backstories of the characters. So yes, that is something that we will look at creating,” he shares.

While he has had an amazing 2024, Sohum is excited for his next, Crazxy that releases in theaters on 7 March, 2025. With this new film, he promises a thrilling and exciting ride starring him in a never seen before avatar.
