The Goat Life (previously titled Goat Days) will release in theaters across the UK, India, Australia and France today.
The dramatic feature from filmmaker Blessy stars Prithviraj Sukumara, Jimmy Jean-Louis and Amala Paul.
The movie is based on a renowned Malayalam novel Aadujeevitham, written by Benyamin and published in 2008. The novel is currently banned in Saudi Arabia and the U.A.E..
Set in the 1990s, the story follows a young man named Najeeb, who migrates from the lush green shores of Kerala to Saudi Arabia in the hopes of earning more money. However, he soon finds himself herding hundreds of goats in the middle of a desert. Actors K.R. Gokul, Talib Al Balushi and Rik Aby are also part of the film’s cast.
Directed by Indian filmmaker Blessy (Thanmthra, Kaazcha), The Goat Life is a U.S.-India co-production and will be released in five languages: Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.
The film shot on-location in Jordan, Algeria and India. Blessy founded Indian production company Visual Romance, which is headquartered in Kerala.
