EXCLUSIVE: Greg Kinnear (You Gotta Believe), Kate Berlant (Would It Kill You to Laugh), Nazanin Boniadi (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power), Ron Perlman (The Instigators), and Colleen Camp (Amsterdam) have come aboard to support Adam Scott and Danielle Deadwyler in The Saviors, a darkly comedic indie thriller, which has wrapped production.
Directed by Kevin Hamedani from a script he co-wrote with Travis Betz, which was featured on the 2018 Black List, the film is about a suburban couple whose life spirals into paranoia and danger when they rent their garage to mysterious tenants, leading to a shocking revelation with world-altering stakes.
Kinnear plays Jim Clemente, an eccentric detective who the couple hires to investigate their new tenants. Berlant plays Scott’s character’s conspiracy theorist sister, Cleo. Boniadi plays Jahan, one of the mysterious tenants. Perlman and Camp play the parents of Scott’s character, Mr. and Mrs. Harrison.
Matt Smith and Dan Gedman of Highway 10 are financing and producing the film, as the first under their new shingle, alongside Adam Scott and Naomi Scott of Great Scott Productions, Nicholas Weinstock and Divya D’Souza of Invention Studios, and Bradley Gallo and Michael Helfant of Amasia Entertainment. Deadwyler, Alyssa Roehrenbeck, and Josh Sathre are the executive producers.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be working with such an extraordinary group of actors,” said producers Smith and Gedman. “Kevin and Travis have created a bold and compelling screenplay and their vision attracted the most amazing group of actors whose talent, passion and creativity elevate this film in every conceivable way.”
Added Weinstock, President of Invention, “We’re thrilled to have such a knockout cast onboard this bold and beautiful thriller. It’s a wildly dynamic showcase of both beloved and emerging actors — and a total privilege to watch them bringing the story to life with such brilliance.”
Kinnear is repped by CAA, Anonymous Content, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman; Berlant by UTA, Rise Management, and Felker Toczek Suddleson; Boniadi by CAA, The Artists Partnership in the UK, Jordan Lee Talent, and Glaser Weil Fink Jacobs; Perlman by Gersh and Link Entertainment; and Camp by Gersh and Lichter, Grossman, Nichols.
