Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali has confirmed his highly anticipated film, The Idiot of Istanbul during an interview. After weeks of chatter, now the director revealed the lead actor who will be seen romancing Triptii Dimri. Imtiaz confirmed the news in a directors’ roundtable with The Hollywood Reporter India as he revealed the film’s title.
When Imtiaz was asked what he wanted to tell the audience about the film, he said, ‘This announcement is out, but it’s like a little ahead of its time. There is a movie, but I don’t know, it might not be the next one up. But, yes, I’ve been trying to make this film for a long time. It’s called The Idiot of Istanbul’.
On asking if Fahadh Faasil will play the lead role in the film, Imtiaz said, ‘I would like it…yeah. I would love to do this. And now, since you’ve cornered me, I don’t know why I’m not supposed to say this. But yes, my plan is to make this film with Fahadh.’ Well, if things work in favour, then The Idiot of Istanbul will mark Fahadh’s debut in Hindi. Pushpa 2: The Rule star Fahadh earlier spoke about how he wants to concentrate on Malayalam cinema first. But, work has been seen and appreciated in Tamil and Telugu.
Imtiaz directed Netflix film Amar Singh Chamkila with Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra. He also directed Love Aaj Kal with Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan which failed badly at the box office. While Fahadh was seen in Aavesham and Bougainvillea in Malayalam. He played important role in Vettaiyan with Rajinikanth in Tamil and his performance in Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa 2: The Rule was appreciated by many. His upcoming projects include Don’t Trouble the Trouble, Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira and Karate Chandran in Malayalam and Oxygen in Telugu.
