As news networks parse the meaning of Donald Trump‘s “bloodbath” remarks at a rally in Ohio this weekend, Joe Biden‘s campaign has rolled out a quick-turn campaign ad that leads with the former president’s statement followed by less-than-flattering soundbites from Trump’s speeches over the years.

The written message above the video on Biden’s account reads, “Donald Trump has shown us who he is, time and time again.”

Interspersed with shots of torch carrying and Nazi-accoutered marchers chanting “Jews will not replace us” in Charlottesville in 2017 is Trump’s initial response to that so called Unite the Right rally in which he says characterizes them thusly: “You also had people that were very fine people on both sides.”

The ad then cuts to video of those who attacked the U.S. Capitol on January 6 dressed in black and flashing white supremacy signs as Trump is heard to intone, “Proud Boys, stand back and stand by” before images of the January 6 attackers — whom Trump called “hostages” over the weekend — assaulting law enforcement are seen.
