The movie crossed the mark of Rs 1000 crore in no time. It is among the highest grossing Indian movies over the years. Now, all eyes are on the second part of Kalki 2898 AD. The sequel is on the cards with the cast remaining same. There are reports about other stars joining the cast too. Recently, Nag Ashwin spoke about casting Mahesh Babu as Lord Krishna in Kalki 2898 AD.
Nag Ashwin talks about Mahesh Babu playing Lord Krishna
In a latest media interaction, Nag Ashwin spoke about why he did not cast any big star to play Lord Krishna. He said that had there been a big, full-fledged role of Lord Krishna, he would have definitely got Mahesh Babu to play the role. He added that had there been a full role and Mahesh Babu had come onboard, it would have become an all-time blockbuster. He even agreed when the interviewer said that the Kalki 2898 AD starring Mahesh Babu as Lord Krishna would have crossed the mark of Rs 2000 crore at the box office. He joked that even before the teaser release, the film would be a hit. Is this a hint? Can we see Mahesh Babu in part 2? Fans have fingers crossed.

In the same interview, Nag Ashwin spoke about getting Amitabh Bachchan to play Ashwathama in Kalki 2898 AD. The director was quoted saying, “I told him the entire story. At heart, I believe he is still a child. He loves action. The setup of the world, he liked.” He added that he approached Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan on same phase.
