Clariant is currently looking for a Site Safety Environmental Officer to support safety operations at our facility in Belen and Albuquerque, NM. This role is responsible for managing and implementing the safety, environmental, and operational protocols of the manufacturing facility to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and promote a safe, efficient workplace. This role will oversee all aspects of workplace safety programs, environmental impact management, and support operational processes to drive productivity and reduce risk. The primary objective of this role is to foster a culture of safety and sustainability across the workforce, aligned with Clariant's ethics and goals. This role is a full time, onsite opportunity. Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Clariant’s safety policies, procedures, and Code of Ethics
  • Manage site programs related to environmental sustainability, occupational health, and process safety
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with EHS regulations
  • Conduct routine site audits/inspections, track and report EHS metrics, and implement controls to reduce workplace, process, and environmental hazards
  • Support the site with Risk Portfolio Management and monitor operations to confirm EHS standard
  • Investigate accidents, near-misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Manage ESHA initiatives and programs for continuous improvement
  • Apply for internal and external EHS recognition programs
  • Promote a strong safety culture across the organization through awareness campaigns, signage, and employee engagement
  • Provide training and coordinate emergency drills for response preparedness
  • Provide technical EHS support to the site and related activities at the mines
  • Act as the main point of contact for local agencies regarding compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations
  • Ensure contractors and visitors on site understand and follow EHS protocols
  • Engage with the local community on ESHA initiatives and performance at the site
  • Engage with site functions to implement ESHA practices, achieve targets, and foster site culture of excellence

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience with mining operations, processing, and packaging within a manufacturing environment
  • In-depth knowledge of ESHA regulations, environmental compliance standards, and manufacturing processes
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills to work cross-functionally with operations teams, employees, and regulatory agencies
